The DKF does currently not run its own DNA chip facility, instead DNA chip experiments can be carried out in the Life Science Training Facility (LSTF) of the Biozentrum, University of Basel. The DKF has arranged a contract which allows to use this infrastructure without paying for individual experiments. The LSTF has complete set up for Affymetrix chips (Fluidics station, Scanner) and their collaborators provide detailed support during probe generation.

Researchers of the DKF who are interested to carry out DNA chip experiments in Basel must arrange the details of their experiments in advance with Philippe Demougin (phone 061 267 2178). Researchers have to fill out an Agreement Form (see http://www.biozentrum.unibas.ch/corelab/) before starting experiments. Consumables (but not DNA chips) are provided by the LSTF and have to be payed at the end of each experiment.

DNA chip experiments based on spotted arrays or "long oligos" are currently not supported by the DKF and no bioinformatics support is provided by the DKF. Each researcher who is willing to carry out DNA chip experiments is well adviced to establish a collaboration for this part of his/her experiment.
